During the nineteen nineties and early two thousands, atkins diet was a far reaching diet fad which took the world by storm. It proposed that people nix the carbohydrate rich food, and instead commit to a diet rich with fats and proteins. Since then, Atkins diet has largely gone down the drain, with it no longer receiving much support at all, and there are some good reasons for this.
In 2003, a government report was released in the UK which provided the results of a medical study which showed that diets like the Atkins diet which recommended what they recommended had serious negative repercussions for the people doing them. Furthermore, many of the claims which were made in the Atkins diet went on to be proven wrong, with the exception of one claim, which says that protein rich diets can be beneficial with controlling hunger.
